Continental Ship Management AS (”CSM”) was established in 1983 by Captain Knut G. Ertsland.
CSM is an independent ship owning company fully controlled by the Ertsland family.
The ownership of vessels or part-ownership of vessels is organised through separate ship owning companies. At the moment the CSM Group of companies own partly or wholly 11 vessels and has in addition 8 vessels under management.
The ship management activity is organised as a separate company wholly owned by the group holding company, Continental Ship Holding AS.
CSM is utilising the most modern and up to date systems and routines and will meet all requirements to safe manning of vessels. The company is certified in accordance with ISM (International Safety Management Code) under the various flags which we operate and all the vessels managed by CSM are ISM and ISPS certified.
CSM has since the start managed bulk / general cargo vessels and tankers/product carriers in size between 1.000 to 35.000 tdw. In addition the company has managed combined vessels, chemical/ dry-bulk and selfdischarging vessels for grain or cement.
The crews onboard the vessels managed by CSM are primarily from Poland and most of the crews have been with the Company for many years. Gradually crewmembers from the other Baltic countries and Russia are being recruited to complement the present crews. All crewmembers have a high educational standard and are obviously certified as required.
CSM has its own group of travelling crew who can do repairs onboard while the vessels are continuing to trade or can be used to prepare the vessel for dockings etc.
CSM has a purchase office in Poland jointly with the Danish Ship Owning company Fabricius. The purchasing office is responsible for purchasing spares and consumables for more than 30 vessels and has sufficient capacity to secure the best prices on the spares and to follow the spares from the moment of ordering until actual delivery onboard each vessel.
